Today, we’d like to share some important information for everyone using GUTS-MAN socks.

Today, we’d like to share some important information with everyone using GUTS-MAN socks: “The possible causes for holes in socks.”

While GUTS-MAN socks are designed to be extremely durable, they are not completely indestructible. Holes can still occur under certain conditions.

However, our socks are built to be far more resistant to wear and tear than regular socks, offering enhanced durability and longevity.

They’ve also shown excellent results in abrasion resistance tests, and are even used by members of the Japan Self-Defense Forces during 40km and 100km marches.

At the same time, there are a few things we’d like you to check as well.

Have you noticed anything that might be causing it?

There are several possible reasons why holes may form in socks.

For those who often experience holes in their socks, please refer to the following suggestions for improvement.

1. Improper shoe size

→ Make sure to wear shoes that fit properly.

Are your shoes the right size for your feet? Could they be too big or too small?

We’ve especially noticed this issue among customers who wear safety shoes, boots, or rubber boots.

When your feet move around inside your shoes, it creates friction, leading to holes in your socks.

Please try to choose footwear that fits your feet as well as possible.

2. Toenails are too long

→ Keep your toenails trimmed.

Have you checked your toenails lately? They might have grown longer without you realizing it.

With five-toe socks, friction often occurs between your toenails and the inside of your shoes.

We kindly ask that you trim your nails regularly to help prevent this kind of wear.

3. Toenails have sharp corners after cutting

→ File the corners of your toenails to make them rounded.

Even if you've trimmed your toenails, are there any sharp edges or corners left on the sides?

Sharp corners on your toenails can easily catch on your socks. We kindly ask you to be mindful of this to help prevent damage.

4. Dry and hardened calluses on the soles of your feet

→ Use a moisturizing cream to keep your feet smooth and hydrated.

How is the condition of the soles of your feet, especially during the dry winter months?

When your heels become dry and the skin thickens, the hardened skin can create more friction against your shoes, which may lead to increased wear on your socks.

5. Differences in the size or shape of your feet

→ Choose socks that fit the larger foot.

Our feet are generally not the same size on both sides.

We recommend choosing socks based on the size of your larger foot.

Thank you for your consideration.

6. Walking too fast or too slowly, with poor posture

→ Try to walk with the correct posture and avoid leaning forward or back too much.

For those who walk faster than usual, with a forward-leaning posture and quick steps, the weight tends to be on the toes, which places more strain on the toe area of the socks, making them more likely to tear.

On the other hand, for those who walk slower than usual, with their weight shifted backward, the pressure tends to fall on the heels, leading to a higher likelihood of holes in the heel area.

In either case, we kindly ask that you be mindful of your walking posture and try to distribute the pressure evenly across the soles of your feet.

7. Foreign objects (such as gravel) inside the shoes that aren’t causing noticeable discomfort

→ Turn your shoes upside down and thoroughly remove any debris.

It’s easy to overlook, but after walking your pet, especially along riverbanks or beaches, small pebbles or sand can sometimes get into your shoes.

We kindly ask that you regularly check your shoes by turning them upside down to ensure there are no foreign objects inside.

8. Small damages or protrusions inside the shoes that aren’t causing noticeable discomfort

→ Inspect the inside of your shoes carefully for any issues.

Sometimes, it’s easy to overlook small damage inside your shoes from wearing them daily.

However, these unnoticed scratches can cause damage to your socks, and in severe cases, may even injure your feet. We kindly recommend regular shoe maintenance to ensure they remain in good condition.
