1. Introduction: What is the Shosoin Exhibition?

As autumn settles in, Nara transforms into a truly magical place, wrapped in the romance of a 1,200-year-long history.

Have you ever heard of the "Shosoin" (Shosoin Treasury)?

Built in Nara in the 8th century (about 1,200 years ago)—the eastern terminus of the ancient Silk Road—the Shosoin is often referred to as the "world's oldest time capsule." It houses a miraculous collection of perfectly preserved treasures, including personal belongings of the Emperor of that era and exquisite craftwork brought all the way from Persia and China via the Silk Road.

Every autumn, the "Shosoin Exhibition" opens its doors to display these priceless artifacts to the public, making it one of the most prestigious and historic cultural events in Japan.

2. Nara National Museum × GUTS-MAN Special Collaboration

This year, GUTS-MAN is deeply honored to announce an official collaboration with the Nara National Museum! We have created a special line of custom-embroidered socks inspired by the legendary treasures of the Shosoin.

・Olive Drab (OD): Features the Persian-style pitcher "Shikkohei" (Lacquered Ewer) alongside Nara’s iconic deer motif.
